ACADEMIC ISSUES FOR INDONESIAN STUDENTS STUDYING IN AUSTRALIA

What main issues do you know about if you dream of studying in Australia? New customs? New foods? Problems with communication? Many Indonesian students find studying in Australia very challenging. Some find it difficult to adjust to the Australian academic life, and they feel lonely, depressed, and homesick. Others face culture shock by embracing the new ways of academic life and learning from experiences.

When you study at an Australian university, you cannot expect educational stuff to be the same as those in your university. Australia is different from Indonesia. You will deal with unexpected problems like different academic atmospheres, different lecturers and administration staff attitudes, different teaching-learning processes, and even different ways of making friends. This paper mainly discusses ways in which international students need to change their perspectives to study successfully in an Australian university. It also elaborates on problem-solving skills that international students should have while studying in Australia.[1]
